UV calibration reference fabric

This white, optically brightened reference fabric, which is traceable to a national standardizing lab, is used as the calibration standard for spectrophotometers.

The fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) used for textiles have different UV absorption properties than those used for plastics and other non-textile materials. Using a textile material as the primary UV energy calibration reference standard rather than the white plaque supplied with a spectrophotometer improves inter-instrument agreement for textile measurements. This also allows more consistent colorimetric calculations and digitally based quality assessments. When retailer, brand, and manufacturer numbers agree, everyone can be more confident in approval decisions!
