精密電阻的阻值從1毫歐到1歐姆之間屬于極低阻值，一般只能使用精密箔電阻。因為只有金屬箔的合金材料才能在極低阻值，較大電流的工作情況下保持穩(wěn)定，溫飄可以低至±5ppm/°C，精度可以到±0.1%甚至更高。

溫飄的大小是決定這類電阻價格的主要因素。由于其主要應用是電流檢測，所以四端的結(jié)構(gòu)有利于精密采樣。使用更大尺寸或預留更多的功率空間，并且增加輔助散熱器有利于降低電阻表面的溫度，改良取樣電阻的穩(wěn)定性。精密的電流取樣電阻可以替代霍爾電流傳感器，并且具有成本優(yōu)勢
